Fishing at Echodale

While I was at work the boys went out to Echodale with Regan and Claudette for some fishing.  They had a great time although were slightly disappointed in their catches.  It is all catch and release fishing anyway but they were hoping to catch some bigger fish.

Water Balloons in the backyard

Anxious to start

Who doesn't enjoy water balloons on a hot day in the summer?  The boys were very excited to throw some balloons after I got home from work one day.  They had a pact though that you could only throw balloons at things and not at people.

Rain and other wonders

We were driving around in the rain today delivering some cookies.  Nathan is fascinated with the windshield wipers as of late and he asked me to 'spray' the van which means to turn on the wipers and spray with fluid.  I told him I didn't need to 'spray' as the rain was washing the van.  His response: "Thanks, rain.  Thanks for cleaning our van."  Awwww, I could have kissed his dirty little face if I wasn't driving!

On Sunday Nathan, on our way to church, announced, "I am going to Nursery today, Yay for me!"  He then proceeded to talk about his church mom, Sister Peters.  He thinks that teachers are moms.  I discovered this after fighting with him on Carson's kindergarten grad that I was Carson's mom.  When Carson's teacher came on the stage Nathan informed me, rather indignantly, that she was Carson's mom.   I think it is cute.  Heaven help him if he or his brothers get a male teacher anytime soon though as he might not be able to make the connection to dad.  We also tried to correct him and tell him that his church mom is actually Sister Peterson but he got mad and said, "Peters!!!"  He's two and already we don't know anything.  Good thing he is cute!!

Kindergarten Graduation

June 15 was Carson's Kindergarten Celebration (Graduation) at the school.  Since it was on a Wednesday and Jay wanted to play soccer we dropped Jay and Claudette off at soccer and they were to walk over to Carson's school.  It is only 3 blocks so not bad.  As soon as we dropped them off though it started to rain so it was cancelled in the end.  They arrived in time to watch everything but didn't come to the front so Nathan and I were 4 rows from the front for the best viewing.  They did the Celebration for all of the classes so there were 65 kids in 4 different classes.  They sang some songs for us and got their certificates and then at the end the teachers all went to an area of the gym to pose for pictures with the kids individually.  They had potluck desserts for treats.  It was simple but nice.  The kids had fun.  Nathan was disappointed though that there was no bouncy castle as he was apparently expecting one like at the end of the year preschool party.  When he got to pick his own desserts he got over his disappointment.

Trying to get all 3 of them to look at me did not go so well.  The lighting also didn't last from when I  took Nathan's picture.  I tried.

Soccer, soccer and more soccer...

May and June are soccer months in Medicine Hat.  Carson plays on Mondays and Wednesdays and Jay plays on Wednesdays.  Nathan wasn't 3 yet so had to sit out this year but he has valiantly gone to all the games and has been having fun running around and being crazy.  Thankfully Carson's game are within walking distance of the house so on days that Clarke is working or I am on call Claudette gets Carson to his games on Monday nights.  Wednesdays we divide and conquer:  I take Jay and she goes with C.

Our Garden Party

Clarke made some raised beds in the back for us to try this year.  Our garden area is very sandy and we haven't had good luck in the past.  This year we are trying to grow peas, beans, carrots, onions, beets, radishes, pumpkin and squash.  We bought some tomato plants in gallon buckets at Costco and then Jay wanted some sunflowers so we are trying to grow those along the house and not in the raised beds.  We'll have to see how things grow.
