Universal Studios

The Blues Brothers!

Nathan enjoying the Blues Brothers!
Shaking their tail feathers!

Jaws!  - They took the ride out so this is the only place you get to see Jaws in Florida.
Jay with his "Funky" shades!   We came across a couple that were wandering through the park trying to engage the visitors.  They asked to trade Jay his sunglasses and were going to take Nathan in trade.  Jay thought they were cool and thought it was a great trade.  In the end he gave them back and we got to keep Nathan.

Carson and Uncle Jay with the Blues Brothers!
Shaggy signing autographs!

Posing for a picture with Scooby & Shaggy!

Doc Brown & Uncle Jason
Meeting Shrek and Princess Fiona!

The official picture with the "Royal" couple - in all the other pictures Shrek was covering Nathan's face with his hand.

MIB!

Being Silly!

Disney!

We decided to take a family trip to Disney World in November.   With much planning, and agreement from the boys, we left on Halloween.  The boys were excited for their "first" plane ride.  Carson & Nathan have both been on planes but were just too little to remember.  With the craziness at the US airports, we did not take any pictures in the airport or on the plane.  They were a little sad that the pilots didn't give them candy but they got over it!
Day One - Magic Kingdom
We hit the park and planned on going to one end and working our way through the park methodically.  We got stopped waiting in line to see Merida, from Brave.  This was our view of Cinderella's castle while we were waiting to see Merida.

Merida with the boys, showing their muscles.
Merida was the only princess that the boys stood in line to meet during our whole trip to Disney (although they did get a picture with Princess Fiona at Universal!)
They don't look too happy here, do they?

Eating Disney ice cream!
We were waiting for the park parade at Animal Kingdom to start and having a little snack break.

Up and trying to attract everyone's attention for high 5's along the parade route.

Phineas & Ferb
The boys with a green soldier from Toy Story.

Mickey!

Goofy's Barnstormer - all the boys loved this rollercoaster.  We timed it well to go on back to back on our first day.  I sent 'the boys' back on while I tried to get a good shot of them coming through the billboard.

Piglet!  aka Piggy
We went for dinner with Winnie-the-Pooh & Friends.  Piglet was a little "brighter" than we expected him to be.

The boys loved the fact that the characters came to our table while were eating and would pose for pictures with us.
Tigger!  Nathan and Tigger were having a little game of nose poking!  Nathan poked Tigger and he would pat him back on the nose.

HEE-WHORE!
So, it turns out that Nathan's favorite Disney character is Eeyore.  Only he calls him Hee-Whore.   I wish I could get him on tape saying it as there is nothing quite like it!
You can see here how excited he was to give him a hug as he is lunging at poor Eeyore.  The best part of the whole story though is that Nathan was quietly eating and out of the corner of his eye he saw Eeyore coming.  He half turned, slapped Uncle Jason and jumped up out of his chair as he announced, "HEE-WHORE!"

I will admit that I was a little annoyed at having to pay $37 per person for food at the character dinner, however, Nathan's response to the characters made it worth every cent!   Next time we go we will do breakfast - apparently the waffles are Mickey shaped!

Nathan's Party - finally!

Due to scheduling concerns we didn't have Nathan's party until October 5th.  He was excited to pick out his cake, and again surprised us by picking a pumpkin cake.
He picked out the candles and wanted to put them on the cake himself.
Clustering is the way to go this year, apparently!
 Amazed by the sparkler!

Pointing out that the sparkler has stopped sparkling.
 Blowing out the candles.

It took 3 tries to get the candles out.
 Presents!

Jell-o Brain!

While doing some shopping at the Co-op, we found a mold for a Jell-o brain.  The boys came home and insisted we make it, right away.

With the hold came a recipe book with multiple suggestions on flavors and textures.
This is the first one we tried.  The boys have the other options already planned!

The Baconeater!

Nathan got a special present in the mail today.  He LOVES bacon.  He can eat an entire pound of bacon all by himself, in one sitting.  And he is four.   If you ask him what he wants for breakfast, lunch, or supper, his response is typically bacon.
Aunt Cherlyn and Uncle Smokey found this shirt and it reminded them of Nathan.  He opened his package and put on the shirt.  He is obviously in love with his shirt.  Thanks Aunt Cherlyn & Uncle Smokey!

Hard on equipment!

The boys were riding around on their bikes in the front.  Nathan apparently decided to run in to a wall.  He managed to take the wheel off his training wheels.  This means he hit hard enough to break a washer out and cause the wheel to run away.  I had to take it apart, find a new washer and put it back together as they boys really wanted to go for a ride.  Thankfully I was able to find all that we needed and off we went.

You scratch me..

It's hard to see entirely here, but Nathan was scratching Lady's belly.  In return, he got the 'magic spot'        and she was using her back leg to scratch his back.  He thought it was the best deal, ever!
Nathan likes to put shopping bags on his shoulders to make a cape and then if he runs around fast enough, it fills up and and makes lots of noise.

Face Painting and Spruce Meadows

The boys of course love to have their faces painted.  At the ward picnic at the beginning of September the girls from YW were painting faces.  Jay wanted a snake and this was his face.  He was ecstatic!

Two days after the picnic I took the boys to Calgary with me for some meetings.  On the Friday, we went out to Spruce Meadows.  They were doing face painting.  Jay wanted another snake, just like the one he had had on Tuesday night.  I said that was fine and he told the lady painting faces that he wanted a green snake.  Following are the step by step of his snake.

How crazy!!

People all through Spruce Meadows kept stopping Jay to take his picture and to make comments.  He would then close his eyes and show how much crazier it was with the eyelids painted.  If he had been collecting a $1 for each time he had to stop to show off his face, he could pay for our trip this fall!

The boys wanted pictures taken on top of the statues of the horses.  They were a little hot with the sun that day.  Jay didn't last long enough to take the picture from the heat.

They had pony rides for free for the kids as well.  The boys wanted to go on and were fighting over with horse they wanted.  Carson ended up with the smallest pony and Nathan was sad he didn't get the biggest.   If you look closely, you can see that Nathan and Carson have small horses painted on their faces.
