Carson's Soccer

Carson during a quiet moment on the field.
Carson played Tim Horton's soccer again this year as well.  It made for an interesting 8 weeks of soccer monday thru thursday with all the boys playing at different times and on different fields.  Carson seemed to enjoy his  year.  Clarke ended up coaching as no one else volunteered.

Yay, Carson!

Jay's Soccer

Jay enthusiastically showed up for soccer this year and loved it.  He seemed to have some strange built in need to defend the net, even though this level doesn't have goal tenders!  He is becoming a strong player with a good clearing kick from the back field.  June 23 was the soccer wrap-up.  They had a game and received their medallions and soccer balls to keep.

Overall, I think it was a good year for Jay.  He seems to really enjoy soccer now and he practices at home whenever he gets a chance.   Good job, Jay!

Kindergarten Graduation

Today was a busy day.  I had meetings in Calgary until just after noon and then had to race home to change and be ready to go to Jay's Kindergarten Celebration/Graduation.  It was a smaller group this year, only 3 classes.
Jay started out very excited.

The other classes got their certificates first and things were not so exciting...

Posing for an imaginary camera!

Jay's favorite dessert - they ask each family to bring a potluck dessert.  Jay wanted to eat this cake so badly.  In the end, he got the worm's head with his piece of cake and he was beside himself with joy!

Jay started out with some difficulty in Kindergarten but he finished off well.  He struggled staying awake through the long days back in September and there were days that he cried about being too tired.  In the end he did well and will hopefully do even better in Grade One!

Tiny Tots Soccer

Bella is in the pink pants.  This age group is the best, they all just follow their coach around!
Nathan finally got his chance to play soccer this year.  He was on the Kenco Kickers team.  He loved it.  He especially loved his coach, Jeremy Rushton.  Jeremy is his friend Bella's dad.  When you ask Nathan what his coach's name is he will tell you: "Bella's dad."  We tried explaining to him that his coach's name was Jeremy and his reply was, "Germy?"  We figured Bella's dad worked just fine!

Nathan was eating here.  Also a fun part of soccer - snacks!

I think this was a trick kick!

Piano Recital

Carson took piano lessons this year.  He needed a little bit of encouragement to practice but overall did quite well.  At the end of the year his teacher booked a little recital hall at the public library and all of her "kids" got to play a couple of songs.  She played one with him, and he played two by himself.

Unfortunately I was on the wrong side to get a good picture of him.  He was so excited to be there.
